I am so excited! #TheReadingQuest
In the last post I explained why I join the online book community. One reason I do it right now is The Book Quest hosted by Aentee of Read at Midnight. If you haven't heard about it: it's a 4-week-readathon with specific quests just like in a video-game. Check out the signup post.
I immediately got excited about it, motivated a few friends to join in, and got started planning out my TBR, reading time table, and other people's TBR as well... :)
So here is my plan: I want to go for the Bard first, and if I can make it, I will also attempt the knight.
My TBR:
Book that has a TV / Movie adaptation: The Perks of Being a wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
Fairy Tale Retelling: The Sleeper and the Spindle by Neil Gaiman (Graphic Novel)
Cover with striking typography: The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan
Translated book: The Automobile Club of Egypt by Alaa Al Aswany
A banned book: Pünktchen und Anton by Erich Kästner (Audiobook)

There is a million TV/movie adaptations of good books, but Perks has been on my TBR for a very long time now. Finding a good fairy tale retelling might have been hard for me of there weren't the wonderful Jen Campbell who is doing the most amazing videos on fairy tales on booktube. I am especially excited about this as well because i haven't read anything by Neill Gaiman yet but wanted to for forever. The striking typography was Kind of a Joker category for me and i chose a nice looking book from my TBR. I haven't heard much about the Keeper of lost things except that it was pretty successful this year. Let's See. The Automobile Club of Egypt has been a gift by my Friends as I will travel to Egypt this Summer, and I am very curious how I will like this book. For the banned book i wanted to take something from an author whose literature was forbidden in Nazi Germany. Erich Kästner ist one of my favourite German poetry authors, but has also written some very good children's books. I don't think I read Pünktchen und Anton as a child, but I do remember loving the movie to pieces.
So, if I manage to read all of these, on to the quests of the knight! (please imagine a horse whinnying and galopping away...)

My TBR:
1st book in a series: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
Book with a verb in the title: Never let me go by Kazuo Ishiguro
Book with a weapon on the cover: Naked Heat by Richard Castle
Book with a red cover: Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi (Graphic Novel)
Five minutes before I found out about the Reading Quest, I had decided to finally try reading the Raven Cycle. This is also why I first planned to start with the knight quest, and only switched it out for the bard because i really want to read the Automobile Club of Egypt before going there. I am looking forward to the Raven Boys very much - a lot of booktubers whose opinion I trust seem to love it. The same goes for Never let me go. But although several booktubers recommended it and I have read the first few pages, I still don't really know what it's about - but I'm excited to find out. The book with the weapon on the cover was the hardest for me to find somehow. As i wanted to mix up the genres a little, I particularly looked for a crime novel and remembered having started the "Richard Castle" crime stories based on the TV Show Castle. I don't expect very high quality literature, but hope for some fast paced, action packed fun! Finally, I also wanted a graphic novel in this bunch, so i went and looked for one with a red cover. I Had heard good things about Persepolis before, so i am excited to read this as well.
There you go, my Books for the Reading Quest! I tried to mix up the genres and formats and hope I will still be as excited about reading all these books when it's actually time to do so.. ;) For the side challenges i will go spontaneously depending on my mood and what my shelf offers - but anyways, Bard and Knight are my Number One Goals!
:)
