Reading Quest Halfway Update

So. About half-time in the reading quest! :) I have accomplished quite some reading, even though I am not as far as I'd like to be... Concerning the bard reading quest, I have finished two books for it. I have also since started The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and I love it sooo much. I mean, I kind of knew I would like it but I still seem it sometimes hits me when I realize how much I love a book. Yesterday, it had me crying and chuckling in the span of about 20 pages. I am on page 170 now and I hope to finish it in the next days.. I also hope to read Neil Gaiman's Sleeper and the Spindle in the next days. And then there is only one book left for the bard challenge. Yayyy! :) Overall Pages  (Novel) : 565 + 170 = 735 Pages (Graphic Novels): 208 Audioobook minutes: 180 min Books finished:  3 Experience  Points : 45 Level : 1 Health Points : 112

Belated Update for Reading Quest Day 10 (is it?)

Bild
Oh dear. I wanted to post an update at the beginning of this week but failed. Oh well. Here it is, a little belated. Just imagine it's 6 days ago: Monday: Almost a week later.. :D so I went hinking for several days last week, and so I didn't manage either much reading nor any posting.. Instead, I re-fell in love with forests... look how beautiful it was: In order to celebrate this beauty, I read the very awesome graphic novel "Through the woods". It's a great collection of Gothic ghost stories, just right to give you a chill (or several) but will still let you sleep afterwards.. :) I also finished The Automobile Club of Cairo, which really is a great book, although I had to go to Wikipedia right after finishing it in order to understand the historical context a little better (wait, why do I list that as a disadvantage?! Education, bro! ;) ) Today I listened to "Pünktchen und Anton" on audiobook and really enjoyed it as well. The funny thing

Reading Quest Day 4

Ah well. That almost worked with the daily updates... :D But as I said, i was kind of busy with a lot of other stuff, and as expected there isn't too much progress I can actually tell you about.. On the upside: I am progressing accoridng to my plan! :D The plan was to read "The Automobileclub of Cairo" in the first week, and so far I am 40% into the book (approximately 260 pages), and I love it so far! I like the way the book gives you background stories to a lot of different characters. This makes the development of the plot slow, but gives you such a good and diverse impression of the Egyptian society in the 1930s (as I am pretty sure this is when the main story takes place, so far the book has not given an exact year..). It reminds me a little of J.K. Rowling's Casual Vacancy in the way it follows these different characters in order to give you an impression of the society, but also to analyze small psychological mechanisms. I just hope this book's end wi

I hope to do the main part of the reading in the second week as I don't have too much going on in that week other than that... But for now: let's jump right in, and see you on the other side! :)

I am so excited! #TheReadingQuest

In the last post I explained why I join the online book community. One reason I do it right now is The Book Quest hosted by  Aentee  of  Read at Midnight . If you haven't heard about it: it's a 4-week-readathon with specific quests just like in a video-game. Check out the  signup post . I immediately got excited about it, motivated a few friends to join in, and got started planning out my TBR, reading time table, and other people's TBR as well... :) So here is my plan: I want to go for the Bard first, and if I can make it, I will also attempt the knight. The Bard -  the beautiful character art has been created by  CW of Read, Think, Ponder My TBR: Book that has a TV / Movie adaptation: The Perks of Being a wallflower by Stephen Chbosky Fairy Tale Retelling: The Sleeper and the Spindle by Neil Gaiman (Graphic Novel) Cover with striking typography: The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan Translated book: The Automobile Club of Egypt by Alaa Al Asw

Why I am here now

I have always been an avid reader, I have always loved to talk about books. I have watched booktube for about 3 years now, and participated in Dewey's 24hourreadathon for the last 2 years. All this time I participated in the online book-lover community only passively. I used Twitter or Goodreads for the readathons, but otherwise I was only quietly, happily consuming other's opinions on all the books. But now I have finally decided to give my book-love an online-home, and to share my opinions, give recommendations (as always, no matter whether asked for or not..) and just have fun with reading, writing, and other book-crazy people! :)

Hello World!

Here starts my blog.
