#TheReadingQuest Preperations

Only one day to go!!!!! :)

 The Reading Quest Readathon is almoste there, and I am totally ready for it! :D

 Preperations:

  • E-Books on kindle, kindle freshly charged - check!
  • Graphic novels ordered - check! delivered - not yeeet, stupid mailman... :(
  • made a rough plan of what to read when - check!
  • Made friends crazy about it as well - check! Will meet a bunch of them right now for a book-exchange-readathon-preperation party!!! :)


 During the readathon I hope to post daily updates of my progress - let's see how that'll go.. anyways, I will not have too much time for reading in the first week because I have some other projects going on (and I will be on a hiking trip with my brother for 3 days...). I hope to do the main part of the reading in the second week as I don't have too much going on in that week other than that...

 But for now: let's jump right in, and see you on the other side!

Tomorrow is Dewey's 24hourreadathon!

So i won't go into detail how i didnt update this Blog for the longest time.. instead, i just want to celebrate being back and already totally excited for the next 24hourreadathon in.. tomorrow?! Goodness! I mean, i am kind of prepared already.. so here come my plans, hopes and ideas! 1. Schedule In an almost ridicculous tradition i am once again facing the fact that i cannot start the readathon in time.. as always, it starts at 2pm for me but I'll be at a seminar until 5pm.. the rest is still pretty much unplanned.. there is the idea of watching a spooky movie together with my boyfriend, fitting the overall spooky/ halloweeny topic. Too bad that the new Sabrina netflix series will come out a week later - it might have been a really good fit for the occasion.. ;) As also is my tradition, i will not try to force myself to stay awake but just read as long as it's fun, and i will also not wake myself up crazy early again.. it's about having  fun, isn't it? ;) ...

Reading Quest Day 4

Ah well. That almost worked with the daily updates... :D But as I said, i was kind of busy with a lot of other stuff, and as expected there isn't too much progress I can actually tell you about.. On the upside: I am progressing accoridng to my plan! :D The plan was to read "The Automobileclub of Cairo" in the first week, and so far I am 40% into the book (approximately 260 pages), and I love it so far! I like the way the book gives you background stories to a lot of different characters. This makes the development of the plot slow, but gives you such a good and diverse impression of the Egyptian society in the 1930s (as I am pretty sure this is when the main story takes place, so far the book has not given an exact year..). It reminds me a little of J.K. Rowling's Casual Vacancy in the way it follows these different characters in order to give you an impression of the society, but also to analyze small psychological mechanisms. Dewey's 24 hour readathon anticipation post

After being so successful on the last readathon - yayyy, here comes the next one! :) For several years now, I have participated in Dewey's 24 hour readathon  and it has always been so much fun! This time will be a special one, first because it's the 10-year-anniversary of this readathon, and secondly because this will be my first readathon with a blog!!! :) Let's see how good I will be with posting updates this time around.. ;) So, hard facts first: the readathon will be  OCTOBER 21 starting at the same time all over the world and lasting 24 hours. you can check on the website when your starting time is. E.g., for me here in Germany, the readathon starts Saturday at 2pm. Even though there are still over three weeks to go, I have of course started to at least mentally prepare for the event.  Reading Schedule: Thing is, I have a seminar on that day, probably lasting until 5pm. So I will already miss the first 3 hours. And I will not even attempt to read all through...
